Corey Jackson and ScrubCan profiled on ABC30 on September 18, 2015 on the 11:00 PM news. Corey was interviewed about how he came up with the idea for ScrubCan. He also talked about how ScrubCan is environmentally responsible with regarding to water use.
ScrubCan on Conserving Water
The water used to clean trash cans is recycled water obtained from the City of Fresno. It is not meant for human consumption. As a result, ScrubCan doesn’t use any of the water that is meant to be used by the citizens of Fresno.
A second way that ScrubCan is environmentally responsible is by design. When Corey designed the ScrubCan cleaning system, he built a way to capture the run-off water from the trash can cleaning process. We estimate that we capture about 80% of the water used in the cleaning process. As a result, most of the water can be returned for recycling and used again another day.
While 80% capture is good, Corey thinks that this number could be increased with some enhancements.
Great job Corey and we look forward to seeing what you are planning next.
